College Counseling
The College Counseling program centers on the student’s education and student development. We are committed to providing students with the resources to prepare for college and post-graduate paths that best fit their interests. In a highly personalized and engaging model, the student, family, and counselor collaborate to navigate an increasingly competitive and complex college admission landscape.
While College Counseling begins working one-on-one with students during their junior year, students in ninth and tenth grades work in Freshman Seminar and Contact Groups to identify their unique strengths and passions. Throughout their time at Maybeck, students are always welcome to meet with the Director of College Counseling.
The emphasis is helping students reflect on who they are so that they can find colleges that are good matches for them. Students are provided with college counseling that is supportive and student-centered.
Colleges love Maybeck students.
Why? Because our graduates are prepared, mature, engaged, and creative learners.
Because Maybeck is a small school that fosters community, teachers really get to know students in depth. Their recommendation letters reflect this deep knowledge. After years of conversation within our seminar-style classrooms, travel experiences demanding maturity and responsibility, and annual camping trips (at the start and end of each school year), our teachers form deep bonds with students, both as mentors and as partners/friends/equals.
College Eligibility Requirements
Maybeck's graduation requirements exceed those of the University of California (UC) and California State University (CSU). Students take four years of a challenging academic curriculum that prepares them for admission at institutions that best suits their academic and personal interests.
