Maybeck Beyond

Maybeck Beyond offers a variety of activities throughout the school year that students have the option to participate in. This program offers experiential learning outside the classroom, with an emphasis on outdoor education and cultural appreciation. In the last few years, we have done day hikes to Abbott’s Lagoon in Pt. Reyes, Mitchel Canyon on Mt. Diablo, Sunol Regional Park, Tennessee Valley, and walked from Sutro Baths to Crissy Field. We’ve been camping in Big Sur, China Camp State Park, Death Valley National Park, the Eastern Sierra (Lundy Canyon), Lake Sonoma, Lassen Volcanic National Park, Mercy Hot Springs, Mt. Tam, New Brighton State Beach, Sunset State Beach, and Wright’s Lake/Desolation Wilderness. We’ve gone to watch sports: Cal Women’s Volleyball and Cal Men’s Basketball. We’ve been to the SF Opera and the Berkeley Symphony Orchestra. Museum visits have included SFMOMA, Museum of African Diaspora, Pier 24 Photography Museum, and the Oakland Museum. Additional activities have included Cross-Country Skiing in Bear Valley, Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, Indigenous Peoples Day Sunrise Ceremony on Alcatraz, ice skating, roller skating, Ocean Beach bonfire in San Francisco, and the Autumn Lights Festival at Lake Merritt Gardens.
